how to install presets?

Updated: May 1

Preset Formats

The first thing you need to know before proceeding with the installation is that there are several different types of presets for LightRoom. Depending on each format, you must perform the installation in each of the different LightRoom there are.

  • XMP: Installed on LightRoom classic versions higher than 7.3 and on Lightroom CC.

  • DNG: they are not presets as such, but they are photos. These photos have the presets of t the preset in question. So when you install that photo, you can copy and paste its settings to other photos. Of course, you can save those same settings and create the preset with the name you want for the mobile version.

How to install presets on LightRoom mobile?

Again, there are two options, depending on whether you are using an iphone or an android. In both cases, you obviously need to have LightRoom mobile installed (you will find it in the playstore or applestore). You download it and ... let's go there!

  1. iPhone

  • Once LightRoom is downloaded, you will also need an application to unzip the folder in which the presets come.

  • Download the app to unzip, unzip the file and then you will have different folders (with none of the presets packs you have bought).

  • Open the DNGs that appear (they will be the presets) and you will wonder what program you want to open it with. Obviously you hit open with LightRoom.

  • That DNG (which I remind you is a photo with the preset settings) will have been imported into LightRoom.

  • With the image open in LightRoom, click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner. Different options will appear.

  • You click create preset, give it a name and save it to the folder you want.

  • YOU ALREADY HAVE THE PRESET SAVED.

  • Apply it to any photo and readjust if you need to

  • RECOMMENDATION: As you apply it to the photos, adjust the color temperature and exposure to the optimal values and then if you need to change something, you do it.

  1. Android

  • Having the folder unzipped, open LightRoom and select add new in the gallery (button found in the lower right corner).

  • Click the upper right button with the 3 dots and uncheck the JPG / PNG option and activate the RAWs tab.

  • You search for the presets you want to import and add them.

  • YOU ALREADY HAVE THEM.

  • RECOMMENDATION: As you apply it to the photos, adjust the color temperature and exposure to the optimal values and then if you need to change something, you do it.
